Cheeba Beanie Hats

These hats are coming soon… I am being lazy by posting that link, but I will make the effort to post these images! The hats are of the new Cheeba logo type I made as well as the old faithful ‘symbol’.

British Council Phrasal Module

Towards the end of last year I was working on a series of illustrations for the British Council, they formed a learning module called Fast Phrasals. The 10 animations centered around a group of friends doing daily activities and built within the dialog were phrasal verbs, supporting each story is an accompanying comic strip.

It was aimed at a younger audience than I’m used too, so I saw it as a challenge. I have to say thanks to Wonky Films, Bristol for getting me involved on this and they have made a great job of the animations.

Customising Dj Cheeba

Being a man of acquired and refined taste, Dj Cheeba asked me to ready the artwork I created for his mixer to adorne his various gadgets – here are the results. He is an exemplary Dj, but he is falling behind in Photography class.

Ninja Tune XX Poster Spotted on Channel 4′s Fresh Meat

This was an eagle eyed spot by none other than Mr Sustenance himself, Dj Food followed by my favorite client and probably the best Dj in the world Dj Cheeba.

Channel 4 series Fresh Meat had had a scene with one of the characters in his bedroom relaxing with a smoke, but adorning his wall happened to be the poster I designed for the 20 year anniversary of Ninja Tune… whoever the art buyer was for the set obviously had great taste in music and design!

Did this a while back but just got around to updating the site… Kel Sweeney, Video DJ extraordinair and one half of the Video Geeks commissioned this little number from me. I have to say I do like the style he went for, suits the mixer well i think, but what do you think?

Skylon Inspired

I started this drawing as soon as I got back from a trip to the V&A to see the British Design Exhibition, a very interesting show indeed and highly recommended. In the show I saw the blueprint drawing for the Skylon tower which was part of the Festival of Britain 1951. Something about the geometry and awkwardness of how it stands really appealed to me – I cant find the drawing I saw in the exhibition online but this is the closest I could find.

I am hoping to make a vast scene in black and white, maybe of a moon landing? with ships/vehicles that have a similar awkward geometric weight to them… Here is a view of where I’m up to at the moment.

Rane Mixer for Dj Woody

Having whored my work on various scratch dj’s mixers, namely Dj Cheeba & Dj Kentaro, I thought I would pester 2 x world champ Dj Woody seeing as all three of them were playing at a night coming up in London to see if he was game for a custom design. Thankfully he was up for it, I’ve been a keen turntablist fan for a long time and they dont come much better than him.

Its a work in progress at the moment but heres where I’m at now, he liked my geometric style that I am all about at the moment (will post some pics soon of that!) so I have remixed an illustration that I think works. The colours he wanted were red, black and white – Run DMC esq!

New Docvek/Cheeba Rane Rane 62 Mixer

Heres a look at the MK III mixer that I have drawn up for my long time hombre Dj Cheeba, his techy brain helped to make sure things were kept in check and the collaboration brought out the best in this skin, looks good and is functional for pro Dj use. 12inchskinz produced the print and having only seen pictures looks to be great, heavily recommend them as a go to company for all customising needs!

Cheeba will be doing a video tour of his full set up soon, and knowing what an über geek he is it will be something to behold… more on that soon.

Granimator Character Development #2

Having put a little bit more time into the Granimator App I have finished 3 ‘styles of one character, no names yet for this one but suggestions welcome!

I am quite pleased with these so far but I still need to do another two characters with three versions for each, plus various backgrounds and extra little elements that will help to create the first installment of the wallpaper.

I was also pleased to see Ustwo get ‘in book’ status at this years D&AD awards, well done guys! looks like it’s good timing to jump on the bandwagon and finish this design pack.
