Vans Chukka Boots

I’m in The Decked Exhibition again this year, and this time I have been given a pair of Chukka Boots supplied by Vans (who are one of the sponsors) to customise. I am really enjoying getting stuck into these as it’s a welcome break from having my face smeared on the front of a computer screen.

I have decided to use oil paint as i wanted to create a more in depth image with subtle layers and Posca pens just don’t hit the spot in that way. Style wise it’s so far removed from my usual style and I have to say I am enjoying the results so far, having said that I am finding the process a little laborious!

The idea is to create an ‘Adam & Eve’ pair of boots, I want to do something that has opposite connotations on the shoes but not as obvious as a straight Ying & Yang/black & White scenario. I will be incorporating elements from the story like the snake which you can see in some of the pictures.
